In Aile’s words...
Using projection devices, the chaotic thoughts are materialized and imprinted on the body, symbolizing the individual's struggles and releases in the present moment.
It explores the process of facing one's emotions, contemplating on how to confront and organize inner thoughts in life, ultimately learning to accept and let go.
It reminds people to bravely face their inner world in life and seek peace of mind.
The observer’s reflection...
At the 1a welcome party, when I mentioned my work-relation with Aile and Felix, one of the artists present immediately asked me, "Do you pay them?" At that moment, I was a bit surprised because I had never thought that work could be unpaid. After all, they are professionals in the field of filming. However, I also understand that many collaborations arising from teacher-student relationships are often "unpaid" or "underpaid."
For Aile, I personally hope she can engage in more creative projects. Artistic practice is fundamentally different from filmmaking and video production. Although both involve filming, editing, and showing the work, video production emphasizes teamwork, there is often distinguishing roles between leaders and supporters. In this field, women often land on supporter roles, taking on tasks like preparation or assistant; while art practice is personal, with all decisions made by the creator, there is no supporting roles. Coincidentally, Aile's project is about self-discovery, with the images of illuminated words on her face, rdo we see ‘affirmation’ or ‘doubt’? Can the audience carefully observe and read the creator's thoughts? Is it important to ‘understand’? This creative process revealed another side of Aile to me, and I hope this experiment provides her with a valuable exploration experience.
